This course covers aspects of prototyping and volume manufacturing of electronic subsystems. Fundamental hand-skills taught will include soldering and de-soldering of through-hole and surface mount components. Students will use software to create schematics and layouts of printed circuit boards [PCBs]. Component placement and IR reflow soldering of the PCB will follow. An overview of volume manufacturing processes for each of these stages will be covered. In addition, students will use AutoCAD to draw various objects. The course lectures will be supported with lab exercises.
