Applied Stratigraphy is a fundamental course that focuses on sedimentary geology. Topics covered include glacial geology, correlation of sedimentary rocks, history of the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, and petroleum geology. Students will learn to identify common glacial landforms and deposits, correlate and map sedimentary units in the subsurface, and apply their knowledge of sedimentary geology to assess hydrocarbon potential utilizing industry software.
