Interpreting geophysical logs is an important requirement in the exploration for hydrocarbons. This course will introduce students to the most common and useful techniques used to analyze open-hole log and test data. Topics include data acquisition and interpretation, borehole condition, standard logging tools and measurements, drill-stem testing and analysis. Students will learn to determine rock pore volume, formation water resistivity, identify pore filling fluids and lithology, and determine water saturation.
