The student is introduced to a number of facets of industrial plants. The roles of the plant engineer in equipment selection, maintenance, and replacement are explored. The physical and operational characteristics, varieties and functions of many types of equipment are identified. Basic selection and sizing techniques are studied. Pressure vessel and piping design are introduced.
