Patients in the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) department often require an intravenous (IV) administration of contrast media to assist Radiologists with diagnosis. In this course, students will learn about the anatomy and physiology of the vascular system, indications, contraindications and complications related to IV insertion, how to respond to complications should they arise, and explore the role of the MRI technologist in the administration of pharmaceuticals. Furthermore, students will apply their knowledge related to IV insertion and complication prevention and management through practical experience administering and monitoring IVs under supervision.
