This course provides an overview of nanotechnology and nanoscience to the student. The student is given a broad overview of the history, science, and the applications of nanotechnology, including a brief summary of common manufacturing techniques. Because of the impact that nanotechnology has on all of our lives, the student will examine the societal impact and ethical issues surrounding nanotechnology. As well, the student will examine regulatory issues in a high technology environment. This course will also provide an overview of the industry of nanotechnology, with highlights on current industry and supporting organizations. This course involves a significant technical writing component; therefore students will also be trained in best practices for technical writing.
