PETE1150

  • Requisites: This course is available to students in the Petroleum Engineering Technolgy program.
  • Course Equivalencies: CHME1150
  • Open Studies: Not Available
  • Credits: 3.00

This course introduces the principles and calculations associated with fluid mechanics. Topics include fluid properties, pressure and pressure calculations, buoyancy, development and application of the General Energy Equation (Bernoulli’s Equation), friction factor evaluations, minor loss determination for valves, fittings, and piping systems. Fluid flow system design and analysis, considering power, efficiency, sizing, and flow rates (flow measurement devices) will also be considered. Class I and Class II Pipeline system and NPSH (Net Positive Suction Head) analysis will be completed. Labs relating to the course topics are included to supplement course theory.
