This course covers topics associated with the equipment used for well drilling and the preparation of components which makeup a drilling well plan. Topics include equipment and techniques for conventional well drilling, provincial regulator roles and responsibilities, drillbit types and applications, drilling fluid systems and calcualtions associated with drilling fluid properties, well casing design, cementing requirements for well casing and/or abandonment, well control theory, techniques, and procedures. Some of the commonly used equipment, techniques, and drilling applications associated with directional or horizontal wells and underbalanced coiled tubing drilled wells shall also be reviewed.
