This course introduces students to the operating practices in the upstream oil and gas industry. Topics include an overview of the regulatory agencies and environmental legislation governing industry, as well as the standard practices followed to mitigate adverse environmental impacts during drilling, construction and production operations. Students also perform operating procedures and calculations associated with the production and processing of crude oil and natural gas at the Energy Safety Canada Nisku Training Center. As part of this course students have a choice between taking one of the three elective options: 4th Class Power Engineering Theory -Part A - Computer Based Learning, Independent Study - through NAIT Con Ed.
