This course will cover the concepts of field development, reservoir performance, well productivity and surface facilities for heavy oil and bitumen resource development. This course will focus on SAGD (Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage), CSS (Cyclic Steam Stimulation and CHOPS (Cold Heavy Oil Production with sand) in Alberta and Western Canada. Students will solve problems relating to Original Oil in Place, Steam Oil Ratios, Recovery Factors, Subcools, etc.
