This course introduces the basic surveying principles required for a thorough understanding of surveying techniques related to distance measurement, differential levelling, angular measurement, traversing, intersections, and the theory of errors. It provides the basic framework required for more advanced survey topics in the second semester. Surveying principles will be presented along with class and field exercises that emphasize and reinforce concepts (field exercises are carried out in the SURV1111 course).
