Petroleum Engineering Technology Industry Day to take place at the Leduc No. 1 Energy Discovery Centre

Students in NAIT’s Petroleum Engineering Technology program will help celebrate the 70th anniversary of Leduc No. 1 – the birthplace of the modern-day oil industry.

The program’s 12th annual NAIT Petroleum Engineering Technology Industry Day takes place tomorrow at the Leduc No. 1 Energy Discovery Centre. Dozens of companies will be on hand, talking directly to students about career options and showcasing the latest technologies. Prior to this year, the event took place at NAIT Main Campus.

Photo ops include:

  • Students getting hands-on with massive oilfield equipment
  • Students competing in a challenge to see who has the best rescue skills while wearing breathing a apparatus and air tank

Graduates of the Petroleum Engineering Technology program start careers as production technologists in the exploration and production sectors of the conventional and unconventional (heavy oil, shale gas, etc.) oil and gas industries. Typical employers include oil and gas producers, oilfield service companies and regulatory agencies.
