As a leading polytechnic, NAIT must continue to grow to meet Alberta’s needs. The Blatchford land acquisition will nearly double the size of Main Campus, enabling NAIT’s future and our vision to be one of the world’s leading polytechnics and the most relevant and responsive post-secondary institutions in Canada.
This is a historic milestone in our long-term plans to expand Main Campus and consolidate programs at Main and Spruce Grove campuses.
Here’s what you need to know.
- NAIT is acquiring 13.27 hectares of land in Blatchford.
- We have an option to purchase an additional 3.23 hectares to the southwest.
- There are a number of conditions on the agreement.
- The closing date is January 2024.
In a separate agreement with the city, NAIT has purchased 4.8 hectares north of Main Campus on the site of former Westwood Transit Garage.
This year, NAIT will refresh our Campus Development Master Plan, which serves as a framework for our long-term development. A student residence and a Skills Centre, which will be North America’s leading facility for skilled trades education, are among our campus development priorities.
