Dr. Marian Weber has been appointed as an adjunct researcher at NAIT while remaining as a principal researcher at InnoTech Alberta
Edmonton - InnoTech Alberta, an applied research subsidiary of Alberta Innovates, and the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) are pleased to announce that Dr. Marian Weber has been appointed as an adjunct researcher at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), while remaining as a principal researcher at InnoTech Alberta.
As a province, one of our greatest challenges is the trade-off between economic growth and environmental stewardship. In her new role, Dr. Weber will work in this area, building on InnoTech Alberta and Alberta Innovates’ investments in an environmental services and exchange program. Environmental services consist of the benefits that people receive from nature, including industrial and social benefits. It’s about providing information and options for balancing development with environmental management. This program will demonstrate how to maximize the benefits for both. In addition, Dr. Weber will also provide strategic leadership in the establishment of NAIT’s emerging Centre for Effective Resource Management.
Establishing this program has been a passion for Dr. Weber. The appointment will help accelerate the development of this initiative and the impact of NAIT’s emerging applied research centre.
