Disaster and Emergency Management (DEM) focuses primarily on preventing, preparing for, responding to, and recovering from specific hazard events, but often it assumes a standardized, response-centric approach from a Western, North American, or urban perspective; one that fails to address the intricacies of working with isolated, marginalized, or distinct communities.
This course provides an introduction to various distinct and geographically dispersed communities
