Course Overview
Delve into the practical use of ultrasound in the evaluation and management of trauma and shock patients, with a spotlight on Extended Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma (eFAST) and Rapid Ultrasound in Shock and Hypotension (RUSH) Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS). The Extended Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma (EFAST) and Rapid Ultrasound in Shock (RUSH) protocols are crucial components of Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) training for healthcare professionals. These protocols enhance the diagnostic capabilities of practitioners in time-sensitive situations, leading to more effective and targeted patient care. With the knowledge and skills gained in this course, you will be able to explain the basic principles and techniques of bedside ultrasound imaging using eFAST and RUSH protocols. Upon successful completion of the competency assessment, you will earn a NAIT Microcredential and receive a Digital Badge you can share on social media and with your network.
Within the province of Alberta, sonography is a restricted practice. Only students from a regulated health profession that are authorized to perform point-of-care ultrasound are eligible to enroll in and attend this course.
