Course Overview
With the growing need for rapid, bedside cardiac assessment, Point-of-care Ultrasound (POCUS) is gaining demand. Point-of-Care Ultrasound Cardiac is a real-time, portable, and non-invasive imaging technique that enables healthcare providers to visualize and evaluate the heart in various clinical settings. With the knowledge and skills gained in this course, you will be able to identify the principles and techniques for bedside ultrasound imaging of the heart and thoracic aorta; determine appropriate sonographic cardiac windows and views, cardiac critical care findings and pathological cardiac function. Upon successful completion of the competency assessment, you will earn a NAIT Microcredential and receive a Digital Badge you can share on social media and with your network.
Within the province of Alberta, sonography is a restricted practice. Only students from a regulated health profession that are authorized to perform point-of-care ultrasound are eligible to enroll in and attend this course.
