Course Overview
POCUS for the chest and lungs has become an integral part of clinical practice, particularly in emergency and critical care settings. This enables healthcare providers to obtain real-time imaging information quickly, without the need for patients to be transported to radiology departments. In this course, discover the difference between normal and pathological findings of the chest and lungs. With the knowledge and skills gained in this course, you will be able to identify the principles and techniques for bedside ultrasound imaging of the chest and lungs, understand the indications and limitations, and apply them to perform a limited bedside sonogram of the chest and lungs. Upon successful completion of the competency assessment, you will earn a NAIT Microcredential and receive a Digital Badge you can share on social media and with your network.
Within the province of Alberta, sonography is a restricted practice. Only students from a regulated health profession that are authorized to perform point-of-care ultrasound are eligible to enroll in and attend this course.
