Course Overview
It is crucial to assess the well-being of both the mother and the developing fetus. Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) for obstetrics in the 1st trimester involves the use of ultrasound imaging specifically during the early stages of pregnancy, typically within the first 12 weeks. With the knowledge and skills gained in this course, you will be able to identify the principles and techniques for bedside ultrasound imaging of the female pelvis and first-trimester pregnancy, differentiate between normal and pathological findings, and apply them to perform a limited bedside sonogram of the female pelvis and first-trimester pregnancy. Upon successful completion of the competency assessment, you will earn a NAIT Microcredential and receive a Digital Badge you can share on social media and with your network.
Within the province of Alberta, sonography is a restricted practice. Only students from a regulated health profession that are authorized to perform point-of-care ultrasound are eligible to enroll in and attend this course.
