Course Overview

In the construction industry, compliance with current legislation and regulations is essential for protecting your business and ensuring project success. This course offers an in-depth examination of the Canadian legal system and contract law principles, focusing on the effective management and interpretation of contracts within the construction sector. You will explore Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) legislation and environmental protection laws, with an emphasis on applying these regulations to real-world construction activities, including developing an Environmental Construction Operation (ECO) Plan. Additionally, the course delves into contract law fundamentals, including torts, legal terminology, and the roles and responsibilities of all parties involved in a contract. You will also gain insights into typical contractual insurance requirements, including the differences between insurance and bonding, and how to use contracts and risk management tools to prevent and resolve disputes.

With the knowledge gained in this course, you will be able to apply contract law principles in a road-building context.
