Course Overview
Water distribution relies on a network of pipes, valves, hydrants and other equipment to deliver water from a central location to a place of end use. Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to describe water distribution systems and the operation and maintenance of water storage facilities.
Water distribution systems are owned by local governments and public entities as well as by commercial or private enterprise. Water distribution systems are an integral part of the planning of new communities, and must be monitored and maintained to ensure pressure and quality. As a graduate of this course you will be able to investigate the procedures to develop a water distribution system inspection program and a water quality monitoring program. You will also be able to describe water distribution pipe installation procedures and water quality considerations in distribution systems.
Upon completion of this course you will also be able to describe the responsibilities of a water distribution system operator and describe water distribution systems, sources of water, water mains, piping, valves, hydrants, water pumping problems, and water storage facilities.
