Course Overview
Wastewater treatment ensures water no longer needed or usable is safe to reuse or be returned to the water cycle. Graduates of this course will be able to describe the responsibilities and duties of wastewater treatment operators and will be able to explain the microbiological process of wastewater treatment.
Wastewater treatment removes impurities from water being treated in physical plants designed for wastewater treatment. Although reuse or safe disposal of wastewater is the goal, the treatment process must be considered early, and monitored regularly to ensure proper function. Graduates of this course will be able to describe racks, screens, grit removal, sedimentation, activated sludge and other components and processes of wastewater treatment.
