Freya Fu knows a well-planned special event will deliver a memorable experience.
Freya enrolled in NAIT's Continuing Education Event Management Certificate program because NAIT's part-time courses best suited her needs. "NAIT offers the most comprehensive content and the scheduling of my courses was quite flexible," she says. "It was also very flexible in terms of how long I want to spend completing the whole program."
After graduating in March 2016, Freya's first job was as an event specialist for a local event planning company. She recently advanced her career accepting a position as International Engagement Coordinator with NAIT's International Centre. Her new role allows her to continue her passion in supporting community based events, such as NAIT's Global Village initiative.
What really drives Freya's passion for event management is giving back to the community and using the event management tools and connections she acquired at NAIT. As Program and Event Coordinator of the annual McCauley Neighbourhood Food Crawl, she organizes a tour of neighbourhood restaurants to provide exposure to local businesses.
This is the part of her job that Freya enjoys the most.
The knowledge she gained from NAIT's Event Management program was essential in helping Freya creative positive exposure for local restaurants.
"The Event Management program gave me valuable insight into the planning and execution of events and allowed me to play an important role in community revitalization."
