If you expect to meet all graduation requirements or complete your technical apprenticeship education before May 31, 2024 we invite you to apply to attend Convocation. You must apply and be approved to attend Convocation.

The deadline to apply is May 15, 2024, but we encourage you to apply early.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to apply to graduate?

No, you do not need to apply to graduate. Students automatically qualify for graduation by completing their program requirements with a minimum GPA of 2.0.  Visit our graduation checklist to make sure you’re covered.

Do I need to apply to attend Convocation?

Yes. In order to attend Convocation in 2024, students will need to complete graduation requirements or complete their technical apprenticeship education before May 31, 2024, and apply to attend by May 15, 2024. Students will be notified whether they’ve met requirements and are approved to attend Convocation at the end of May. For select programs with later end dates, but before May 31, 2024, you will be notified by mid-June.

How do I get tickets for the Convocation ceremony?

Tickets will be released in late May/early June when students have been notified if they’ve met graduation requirements and are eligible to attend Convocation. You do not need a ticket for yourself to attend. Graduates can order up to 4 guest tickets for their ceremony.

Will additional guest tickets be available for the Convocation ceremony and how many?

Extra tickets may be released depending on the number graduates in attendance. If there are extra tickets available, they will be released one week before the ceremony.

Will convocation be live-streamed?

Yes, the ceremonies will be live-streamed. Guests who are unable to attend in person can watch the ceremonies in real time.

Do I get my parchment when I walk across the stage at Convocation?

When walking across the stage, students receive a parchment holder and congratulatory letter. Your parchment will be mailed to you 6-8 weeks following the end of your final term.

Who do I contact if I didn’t receive an email inviting me to apply to attend Convocation?

Convocation email invites will be sent out on January 15. If you expected to meet graduation requirements before May 31, 2024, and you haven’t been invited to apply to attend Convocation, please contact your program to discuss your academic progress. Students in the JR Shaw School of Business should contact the Business Information Centre. If, after that discussion, you’re on track to graduate, please apply early to attend Convocation.
