You want to be a plumber. You want to install and service plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment and controls for transporting water, waste, gases or hot liquids. You might already work on construction sites doing rough-ins after the framing and roof are in place.
But you want to learn more, like how to prepare detailed sketches for pipe and equipment fabrication and installation, or how to install underground storm sanitary and water piping system. Or maybe you need more experience with finishing work, such as installing sinks, tubs and toilets, or more specialized tasks like installing water conditioners or hydronic heating and chilled water systems.
Here are a few other subjects covered in the Plumber apprenticeship program at NAIT:
-preparing and studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to develop the layout of plumbing systems and to determine materials and tools needed
-locating and marking positions for connections, then cutting holes through walls and floors to accommodate pipes
