Winners of an annual competition among NAIT Architectural Technology students to be announced Wednesday evening
EDMONTON – The winners of an annual competition among NAIT Architectural Technology students to design an innovative, functional and environmentally sustainable bank branch will be announced Wednesday evening.
The competition, now in its ninth year, is sponsored by ATB Financial and Kasian Architecture Interior Design and Planning Ltd. It offers 11 prizes totaling $9,000, including the top 10 entries and the Kasian Award for Design Innovation.
This year, the students were challenged to design a fictional building in the Quarters district that would include a “bank of the future” and an adjacent community space for public use. The Quarters is the area in downtown Edmonton between 97 Street and 92 Street and between 103A Avenue and the river.
Design entries will be judged based on innovation/concept, aesthetics, functionality, sustainability and corporate identity.
Participants, NAIT faculty and representatives from ATB Financial and Kasian Architecture Interior Design and Planning Ltd will be available for media interviews. There will also be photo ops of the students with their winning designs.
