Course Overview

Enhance your professional skillset by exploring grid-tied, solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. With the skills you develop in this course will be able to design a PV system complete with applicable permitting requirements and associated drawings. You will possess a solid understanding of PV technological principles and knowledge of equipment commonly used in PV systems. You will also have obtained practical, hands-on experience in designing a residential grid-tied PV system, including experience completing microgeneration applications, drawings and PV permits. Although this course is intended for Electricians, others who have a basic understanding of electrical theory and a familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code are welcome to enroll. Students who need a refresher on electricity will be able to access the course one week in advance of the course start date, to complete an optional module on electrical principals. Students should be prepared to create non-technical drawings using a simple drawing program or create drawings on paper using a ruler and a pencil.
