  • Certificate Achievement - An approved non-credit program that has a formal summative assessment component, has mappped program or course outcomes, and is subject to a regular quality curriculum review process.
  • Certificate Completion - A non-credit program that has no formal summative assessment component and is subject to a regular quality curriculum review process.
  • Continuing Education/Non-Credit - NAIT offers a wide range of non-credit programs and courses for personal and professional development in a number of interesting and exciting fields. These options are great for people who may be working but are interested in studying as well.

Delivery Options

The flexible schedule options for this course including time of day and full/part-time.

  • On-Campus Day - Your course activity is done in-person Monday - Friday, before 5 PM.
  • On-Campus Evening/Weekend - Your course activity is done in-person on weekdays from 5 PM or later, or Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Online Day - Your course activity is done online Monday - Friday, before 5 PM.
  • Online Evening/Weekend - Your course activity is done online on weekdays from 5 PM or later, or Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Online Flexible Delivery - Your course activity is not scheduled and therefore you can determine when to do the coursework.
  • Both On-Campus and Virtual - Some of your coursework will be in-person, on campus and some will be done online.

Whatever your electrical interests, our collection of Electrical Trades Courses probably includes something for you! Our courses can help with do-it-yourself projects around the house by providing you with foundational knowledge and skills needed to make household repairs to code or finish your basement. Other courses, like our Electrical Trade Basic Skills course, will help gear you up for your first job in the electrical trades.

If you are already an experienced journeyperson electrician, enrolling in ELTR700 can prepare you to write the Electrical Master Exam. Other Electrical Trades courses that add to apprentice skills include Electrical Estimating and Electrical Code Update. You can also explore the growing market area of solar photovoltaic (PV) installation with our specialized solar PV course.

Enrolling in one or more Continuing Education courses related to the Electrical Trades can enhance your employment options by proving your competency and commitment to continual learning. By taking courses related to professional development as an electrician, individuals can further their careers as tradespeople, supervisors or contractors.

Upon successful completion of the Electrical Trade Basic Skills course, you will be given a wallet card certificate that proves your commitment and drive to succeed as an apprentice.

These courses can also set you up for success in NAIT’s full-time Electrical Engineering Technology and Electronics Engineering Technology diploma programs, or NAIT’s Electrician and Electronic apprenticeship programs.
