Course Overview
Explore the legally binding agreements used by builders and owners for construction projects. These include lump sum contracts that identify incentives and penalties, and cost plus contracts that require payment of actual costs and expenses generated by construction activity. Explore contract execution, the general conditions of contracts, the general conditions contained within the specifications, and the law of contracts. Examine the relevant Canadian statutes and tort laws and gain insight into dispute resolution practices such as mediation and arbitration. With knowledge acquired during this course, you will become familiar with the rights and responsibilities of all parties outlined in various types of construction contracts.
