Sexual Health & Consent

Ask 4 Consent

Whether you need support or are simply curious about consent, NAIT has information and resources for students and staff.

NAIT’s Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Policy

It takes all of us: creating a campus free from sexual violence

This training will support NAIT students in understanding and practicing consent, responding to disclosures and creating a culture of consent and support on campus. It connects students to key campus and community resources and provides an important opportunity for participants to examine their own attitudes and beliefs about sexual violence. The course is delivered in 4 modules.

NAIT is committed to creating an environment that is free of sexual violence, discrimination, bullying and harassment.

Survivors of sexual violence often blame themselves. It is not your fault. The only person responsible for sexual violence is the abuser.

We want to make sure you are safe, with family or a friend. Confidential help and accommodations are also available through NAIT’s Counselling Services and the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton (SACE).

The next steps are up to you:

  • Consider reporting – you can do this by calling the Edmonton Police (780.423.4567) or NAIT Protective Services.
  • Seek medical care as soon as possible. At the hospital, ask to see if a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SART) is available – they are trained specifically to care for sexual violence survivors.
  • Look for support – there are many resources in the community and at NAIT that work specially with sexual violence survivors.
