Construction Estimating

Credential

The type of certification (degree, diploma, certificate) you will earn after completing your program.

  • Degree - NAIT offers a number of business degrees and applied science and technology degrees accredited by Alberta Advanced Education.
    Applied degree programs offer a stronger emphasis on practical applications of the concepts learned in the classroom
  • Diplomas & Certificates - These credit programs take 1 or 2 years and lead to government approved and industry-recognized credentials.
  • Journeyman Certificate - Hands-on and expert-led apprenticeship and industry training for skilled trades and technology professionals.
  • Continuing Education/Non-Credit - NAIT offers a wide range of non-credit programs and courses for personal and professional development in a number of interesting and exciting fields. These options are great for people who may be working but are interested in studying as well.

Delivery Options

The flexible schedule options for this course including time of day and full/part-time.

  • Day - Courses taking place between Monday - Friday, before 5 PM.
  • Evening/Weekend - Courses taking place on weekdays from 5 PM or later, or Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Online - Sometimes called "Home Study" or "Computer-Based Learning"
  • Blended - A combination of online and in-class components.
  • Distance - Traditional correspondence format. These courses work best if you can't get to a campus or if your schedule can't accommodate fixed class times

Gain a solid understanding of estimating processes with practical exercises. The Construction Administrative Controls certificate offers a selection of accelerated and focused courses specific to construction management. Each CEAC course includes 2 sessions per week: one face-to-face session in a classroom, and the other online.

Certification

Students must successfully complete all required courses within the certificate of their choice to be eligible for a Certificate of Achievement. Students must apply for the certificate by completing a Request for Certification form (pdf) and returning the completed form to ced_ast@nait.ca.

Accreditation

NAIT is seeking Gold Seal accreditation by the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) for the following courses.

Focused on providing a solid understanding of the fundamentals of construction, including estimating, project management and administrative control functions.



Construction Administrative Controls

An accelerated and focused selection of course specific to building the necessary skills for participating in construction management activities.

What to Expect

The Construction Estimating certificate offers an accelerated and focused selection of courses specific to building your abilities for participating in construction estimating activities.

Each CEAC course includes 2 sessions per week: one face-to-face session in a classroom, and the other online in an on-demand format.

Online classes will be held two evenings after the face-to-face classes. Students are not required to log into the online course during the time noted in each course section; however, an instructor will be available during the listed online hours for support.

It is recommended that students register for courses at least one (1) week prior to the start date; however, registrations are accepted until one day prior to the start of class.

Career Opportunities

In today’s job market, there is a high demand for qualified construction managers, estimators and technologists. Graduates will find courses in this program to be directly applicable to their construction career. Having a Construction Estimating and Administrative Controls certificate in your toolbox will widen your career choices and overall employability.
