About the Program
NAIT's Business Administration programs get down to business on Day 1, with in-depth business fundamentals and at least one course in every specialization in the first year. The program is focused and practical, and without the distraction of unrelated subjects or other electives, you can get started on a rewarding career faster without sacrificing opportunities for further education or industry accreditations.
Business Administration – General is a common first year of 10 courses, providing all business administration students with the fundamentals as well as overview of career possibilities related to the JR Shaw School of Business programs. Near the end of semester 2, students select a specialization that best fits their personal interests and career goals in one of the following.

55% in each of :
- Grade 12 English
- Pure Math 30 or Math 30-1 or 30-2 or Applied Math 30
- Completion of NAIT's Business Foundations program at 55% in each course
Open Studies Admission Requirements
You can also enter the Business Administration - General program by successfully completing the following business courses through NAIT Open Studies with an overall minimum GPA of 2.0:
- COMM1101 (Communications I);
- ECON1110 (Microeconomics) or ECON1112 (Macroeconomics);
- FNCE1125 (Introduction to Finance); and
- ACCT1115 (Introductory Accounting I).
Plus one of:
- MGMT1120 (Principles of Management); or
- MARK1130 (Introduction to Marketing); or
- ORGB1135 (Organizational Behaviour).
Note: If you plan on requesting advanced credit for any of the courses listed above then you must see a BIC advisor for alternative course options. It is not required to take all 5 courses in a single semester.
