The Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology program trains graduates to serve in rural community hospitals or health care centres (15-60 beds). The program is unique in that students are trained in both medical laboratory and X-ray disciplines. On completion of their training, graduates are able to perform general medical laboratory procedures, general diagnostic radiographic procedures and electrocardiograms. Students also receive training on computers and information systems in the medical laboratory and diagnostic imaging departments.
NAIT reserves the right of student placement to any of the designated rural training hospitals affiliated with the program. Urban hospitals are not designated as training hospitals in this program.
A genuine interest in people and their well-being is essential since the technologist works with people in various states of illness or injury. Considerate, tolerant and courteous patient care is as important as technical proficiency.

Rather than in-person registration, the students can confirm their registration online. The Registrar’s Office will be sending specific information out to all students—both new and returning. Students should watch their mailboxes and the web for more information.
New students will be required to attend program-specific orientations, and will receive information about dates and times in the mail.
