NAIT students take winning designs to the bank

NAIT student has won the eighth annual Architectural Technology design competition

NAIT student Jonathan Drachenberg has won the eighth annual Architectural Technology design competition with his innovative, functional and environmentally sustainable design for a bank branch.

The contest, sponsored by ATB Financial and Kasian Architecture Interior Design and Planning Ltd., included entries from 94 students in the second year of NAIT’s Architectural Technology program. The finalists and semi-finalists were awarded cash prizes at a reception Tuesday evening at the polytechnic.

Drachenberg wins a total of $3,000 – $2,000 for his first-place design and $1,000 for the Kasian Award for Design Innovation. Second-place winner Shao-wen (Steven) Wu receives $1,500, while third-place winner Graeme Matichuk receives $1,000. The other finalists, who each receive $500, were Taya Anstey, Celine Doutre, Teagan Macneil, Mackenzie Riavitz, Hazel Sarmiento, Kristina Strytveen and Myron Van Dijk.
