Course Overview

Explore the Canadian standards for the use of radiation as a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist. Determine the biological implications of using ionizing radiation and how to protect yourself, patients, and co-workers through the safe application of ionizing radiation. Describe protective practices and monitoring of radiation exposure dose. Apply the ALARA principle to cases where the patient, yourself, or others are or may be pregnant. This course is for currently practicing CLXT’s who want to increase their knowledge and professional development around responding to patient inquiries about the risks of having x-ray procedures performed.
