Course Overview
Heart & Stroke’s Basic First Aid Level A course will allow students to practice the methods of assessing the scene, performing CPR and automated external defibrillation on adults, and providing recovery until emergency medical services arrive. Skills gained in this course will allow you to treat airway and medical emergencies; cardiac arrest; bleeding lacerations; head, spine and pelvic injuries; burns; and how to assist with shock, fainting, and an unconscious person during realistic scenarios. Students will practice these skills on each other and use state of the art mannequins.
