Course Overview
This course is the first of the Becoming a Master Instructor (BMI) Program. Participants are provided with the opportunity to assess their skills in the context of adult learning and become aware of the environment in which adults prefer to learn. Principles are then applied to lesson planning and delivery, utilizing a proven adult learning model and incorporating active learning strategies to increase retention. Level I includes the following topics:
- Understanding the Adult Learner
- Utilizing Course Outlines
- Writing Lesson Objectives
- Fostering Active Learning
- Planning Your Lessons
- Presenting With Confidence
- Giving and Receiving Feedback
Each participant (4-8 to a group) delivers two practice teaching presentations and is provided with oral and written feedback for personal and professional growth.
