Course Overview
Over the years, improving the safety of patients has had considerable advances, however, very little has been done to improve their comfort. With the skills gained in this course, you will be able to determine when and how to use Entonox on your patient.
Nitrous Oxide, also known by the brand name Entonox, is a gas administered to patients to reduce pain. It is a potent analgesic with rapid action and excretion, safe and free from most side effects.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to describe the basic respiratory system and explain the pharmacology of nitrous oxide. You will also be able to describe the administration of nitrous oxide in the Emergency Medical Services context.
This course is primarily intended for two audiences: 1) Graduates of the EMR Program who have a restriction placed on their license for Nitrous Oxide Administration, and 2) MFR Program graduates looking to obtain their EMR credentials.
