Course Overview

Computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) use computer technology for the design and machining of workpieces. Students who successfully complete this intermediate-level course will be able to create geometric drawings for turning, drilling, and boring operations.

Successful completion of this course will also provide the skills to create tool paths for facing, roughing, finishing, threading, grooving, parting off, and live tooling tool paths for milling, face drilling and cross drilling.

Mastercam is the most widely used CAM software worldwide, and is a common choice among Computer Numerical Control (CNC) programmers. This software will deliver comprehensive tool paths by providing full 3D wireframe modeling, powerful surface modeling/editing, solid modeling, and associative dimensioning. Mastercam has translators that allow you to open virtually any CAD file.

Prerequisite: MACH615 - CAD/CAM Drawing with Mastercam Software
