Course Overview
Explore essential components of infection control used by professionals in Canada's thriving body art industry. Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to identify bloodborne pathogens and the risk of infection, and identify methods of infection control and prevention.
At the end of this course you will be able to identify risks of significant blood exposure like hepatitis and AIDS. You will be able to describe the different types of hepatitis, the structure of each virus, how they enter the body, where they replicate, their forms, their transmission, their serological markers, and risks and preventative measures. You will also be able to describe the properties of the HIV virus including replication, effects, diagnosis, stages, transmission and risks.
With the skills gained in this course, you will be able to implement routine practices and precautions to protect against bloodborne pathogens and other diseases.
