Petroleum Engineering Technology

Petroleum Engineering Technology is a two-year diploma program that prepares the graduate for employment in the upstream petroleum industry. The expanding oil sands development sector also provides tremendous opportunities for Petroleum Engineering Technology graduates.

The program consists of the following areas of study:

  • petroleum geology
  • drilling and well planning
  • formation evaluation and reservoir engineering
  • oil and gas production techniques
  • project management and economics
  • environmental protection and safety

Theory is complemented by practical training activities during a one-week session at the Enform Oil and Gas Production facility in Nisku. In addition, all students complete a two-week work experience placement in Year 2 of the program.
