About the program

Industrial mechanics, also called millwrights, keep machinery running. They install, maintain and repair stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment. This involves mastery of many different skills, including interpreting schematics, fitting bearings, aligning gears, operating rigging equipment, tack welding, fabricating machinery, and more.

The work of industrial mechanics supports Alberta’s energy sector as well as manufacturing, forestry, mining, food processing and beyond. There is a growing demand for millwrights in Alberta, especially in the energy, manufacturing, and agriculture sectors.

This program will help you seize those opportunities. NAIT’s dedicated and skilled millwright instructors will teach you everything you need to become a journeyperson millwright. Your on-campus training at the Petro-Canada Centre for Millwright Technology will take place in workshops carefully designed to recreate industry working conditions.
