Cabinetmakers are woodworkers who build, finish, install and repair furniture made of wood and wood substitutes, sometimes with specialized layouts and patterns. They also program and operate computer numerical controlled (CNC) equipment and create detailed shop drawings.
In other words, they can build much more than cabinets. In fact, cabinetmakers can work in architectural millwork shops, custom kitchen businesses, furniture manufacturers, on construction sites, and beyond. The work is so satisfying that many cabinetmakers stay in the trade until they retire. The furniture they create makes life comfortable.
NAIT’s cabinetmaker program fosters your skills with expert teaching from experienced instructors in workshops designed to reflect real-world working conditions.

At NAIT, we honour and acknowledge that the land on which we learn, work and live is Treaty Six territory. We seek to learn from history and the lessons that have come before us, and to draw on the wisdom of the First Peoples in Canada.
