Three cooks working at a station.

About the program

As long as there are people who love food, the world will need cooks. Professional cooks use their passion for flavour to prepare food in commercial settings.

They often work in restaurants but the universal need for their skills means their work can take them many places, like ships, hotels, remote worksites and educational institutions. The work of cooks is essential not only to our economy but to our lives.

This apprenticeship program will expand your cooking repertoire and much more. You’ll learn trade mathematics, what to look for at the butcher shop, the skills of the entrementier or vegetable chef and much, much more. Your learning will take place at the Hokanson Centre for Culinary Arts on NAIT’s main campus and will include the opportunity to work at Ernest’s, our on-campus restaurant.
