Mobile crane operators service and operate the hoist and swing equipment used to move machinery, materials and other large objects. They also set up and rig these machines.
Cranes and hoists are used to build big stuff. That means the work of crane operators stands out. It can even change a city’s skyline. Crane operators work in construction, industrial, mining, cargo handling and for railway companies.
You’ll learn these skills at NAIT’s Crane and Hoist campus in Spruce Grove with on-site cranes. In your training you’ll also use four state-of-the-art crane simulators, which expose you to the real physics of operating a mobile crane in a safe environment.
We'll guide you through the steps to apply on Tradesecrets. Apprenticeship intakes can fill quickly, so apply early to secure your spot and get started.

At NAIT, we honour and acknowledge that the land on which we learn, work and live is Treaty Six territory. We seek to learn from history and the lessons that have come before us, and to draw on the wisdom of the First Peoples in Canada. Only through learning can we move forward in truth and reconciliation, and to a better future together. Read more
