Parts technicians identify, dispense and manage parts inventories. They can work with heavy duty trucks, farm equipment, recreational vehicles, trade equipment like plumbing parts and more. Almost every skilled tradesperson in Alberta will connect with a tradesperson to source the parts and materials they need to do their work.
The Parts Technician program is divided into two branches: parts technician and materials technician. Both play important roles across many industries, from automotive to forestry to retail.
Materials technicians have advanced training in materials handling, identification and storage as well as warehouse operations, transportation and traffic management.
Both apprenticeship streams are delivered through a combination of paid on-the-job training and technical instruction at NAIT. On campus you will be taught by our experienced instructors in labs designed to recreate real-world working conditions.
We'll guide you through the steps to apply on Tradesecrets. Apprenticeship intakes can fill quickly, so apply early to secure your spot and get started.

At NAIT, we honour and acknowledge that the land on which we learn, work and live is Treaty Six territory. We seek to learn from history and the lessons that have come before us, and to draw on the wisdom of the First Peoples in Canada. Only through learning can we move forward in truth and reconciliation, and to a better future together. Read more
