The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) has been recognized as one of Alberta’s top employers for the 11th consecutive year.
The polytechnic’s journey to truth and reconciliation through active learning, respect, collaboration and celebration is one key reason it was once again chosen as an outstanding place to work. The creation of Connecting the Four Directions – NAIT’s Aboriginal strategy – has helped staff actively honour Indigenous knowledge and culture and create a more inclusive environment for Indigenous people and communities. It also provides guidance for the NAIT community on how to identify and remove barriers to Indigenous student success, build meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities, and create partnerships with Indigenous communities and industry to develop community-based learning opportunities.
Other reasons noted by Alberta’s Top Employer judges include:
Additionally, NAIT relaxed some policies to be responsive to employee needs like access to special leave in the case of COVID-related absences.
Alberta’s Top Employers is an annual competition that this year recognizes 75 employers offering exceptional places to work. The workplaces are not ranked in any particular order. NAIT has been named a top employer each year since 2012.
