The polytechnic launches seven new programs ahead of its annual open house event

Ahead of NAIT’s annual Open House, the polytechnic is launching seven new academic programs to create more opportunities for students and help meet the needs of Alberta’s evolving economy. Focused on in-demand skills and emerging career pathways, the programs reflect NAIT’s commitment to delivering post-secondary education that meets the needs of students and employers today and in the future.

New programs at NAIT

On October 24, prospective students and their families can explore NAIT’s newest programs at Open House, where they can connect with instructors, ask questions, and learn about future career opportunities. Developed in response to industry feedback, labour market demand, and student interest, these programs are designed to help students build the skills Alberta employers are looking for.

Update on paused programs

In 2025, NAIT paused 18 programs as part of a comprehensive review to ensure its academic offerings remain relevant, sustainable, and responsive to the industries and students it serves.

Since then, select programs have progressed through NAIT's established governance and approval processes, including review by Academic Council, NAIT’s Board of Governors, and the Ministry of Advanced Education, while several others remain under review. This has resulted in a range of outcomes, including re-instatement, redesign, and approved suspensions.
