Mathematics educator and scholar Mark Schneider has been awarded a 3M National Teaching Fellowship, making him the first NAIT instructor to receive this highly sought-after award that recognizes excellence in educational leadership and teaching at the post-secondary level.
Schneider’s achievements over the course of his career are linked to his innovative approach to education. During his 9 years at NAIT, he has been instrumental in empowering faculty members to incorporate digital tools and approaches in their teaching. Schneider also pioneered the use of an online platform for assessments, spearheaded a project to modernize NAIT’s learning management system, and contributed ideas that led to the introduction of the institute’s first microcredentials.
Here in Canada and internationally, Schneider is an advocate, thought leader and accomplished speaker on the power of technology to help students succeed, inspiring countless educators to improve and modernize their own teaching practices.
While his forward-thinking ideas have led to countless improvements at NAIT, these achievements are matched by his outstanding contributions to educational leadership. Student testimonials talk about his ability to instill knowledge, build their skills, and spark an authentic interest in math, which for many is a novel experience.
Schneider was one of 10 educators to receive this year’s 3M National Teaching Fellowship.
