NAIT named an Alberta Top Employer for the 10th consecutive year

EDMONTON, AB - The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) has been recognized as one of Alberta’s top employers for the 10th consecutive year.   

The polytechnic’s ability to support staff and the greater community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic is one of the key reasons it was chosen as an outstanding place to work. Finding innovative ways to use online technologies to serve more than 30,000 students and apprentices, supporting the community by lending much needed supplies and services, and providing support and greater flexibility for staff are just some of the reasons why NAIT was named a top employer.

Other reasons noted by Alberta’s Top Employer judges include:  

  • Supporting staff through the pandemic with a stipend of $50 per month and computer and office equipment for those working from home.   
  • Surveying employees to understand their equipment needs as remote work continues through the fall and winter semesters.  
  • Supporting employees through various stages of life, from maternity leave top-up payments for mothers-to-be, to flexible work options to help balance personal and family commitments, to phased-in work options for those in the later stages of their career.  
  • Honouring exceptional employee performance through formal and informal recognition programs, with awards for outstanding leadership, instructional excellence, and for employees who go above and beyond their regular duties in a wide array of categories.  

Alberta’s Top Employers is an annual competition that this year recognizes 70 employers offering exceptional places to work. The workplaces are not ranked in any particular order. NAIT has been named a top employer each year since 2012.
